Hi, I live in Europe and I've been wondering what are the chances and possibilities for European students to join HMS? I'm 19 years old and I've graduated high school this year - the domain I've decided to study is medicine and I've succesfully passed the entry exams at the Medical School in my country. I know that in some European countries the educational system differ from the US one and this is the main cause of my question -I mean that f.e. at my MS I'll be studying for 6 years and I guess that's the time between 19-25 when US students are in college AND MS.. so what are the conditions of my possible soliciting for the HMS (if there are any)? does the HMD accept students who were studying medicin in their country and who'd like to transfer themselves to HMS and continue learning there?any conditions etc..? oh,and the last question - what are the condition of any "student exchanges" at HMS? I'd be gratefull for a respond, Monica
You should go into the "Admissions" forum under "Medical School" and post your question in the "Ask Admissions Consultants" thread.
One of the most pertinent things you should know is that most American medical programs require a bachelor's degree before you matriculate. If you want information about your chances at Harvard, you should contact them directly. I would suggest looking through the information about medical school on http://www.aamc.org and on Harvard Medical School's website http://hms.harvard.edu/hms/hms.asp
There are also other great medical schools you may wish to consider besides Harvard if you should not get accepted there.
I forgot to mention a few other things. You may want/need to take the MCAT (explained on http://www.aamc.org ).
Also, I said to consider other schools because Harvard is very very competitive to gain admission to. The average GPA in college (undergraduate) of the students they admit is a 3.8 out of 4.0 and the average MCAT score is 34.5 (94th percentile). On top of that you have to be a very dynamic and accomplished individual (i.e. volunteering, research, clinical experience, etc. has to be strong).
