| What is this stuff about terrorists and Bush?. Had no idea this was a republican backdoor to political terrorism. I suggest you go down and see the new Michael Moore movie. |

This was discussed earlier and I don't feel like rehashing it here.
I didn't know Michael Moore's fair and balanced movie was gospel truth. I'll draw my own conclusions thank you very much.

| I haven't seen the new Michael Moore movie, although I'd like to. Even though I'm pretty anti-Bush, I can't imagine that you don't need more than a few grains of salt to take while watching it. Anytime someone is so very conclusion-oriented in their approach you have to check their argument very very carefully. |

| This is directed to the Junior Professor - POSC. How about educating the rest of us on the relationship between Bush and terrorism by defining "terrorism" for us. What is terrorism?. |

| With regards to Michael Moore's movie, go see the movie (documentary), and draw your own conclusions. If you sincerely love this country, you must come away with some serious questions - not conclusions, just questions. Do we love our country enough to ask those uncomfortable questions - or do we hide behind one liners like you know who. |

Rodney,
A while back Posc and I had an extended debate over the issue (Bush and terrorism) and while I of course think my side is right (in line with what you seem to be suggesting) there are substantial points to be made on both sides. Although we disagreed, we both agreed that it wasn't something we could effectively discuss on a message board. Anyways, where we stopped here are the two main arguments, as I understood them:
Anti-Bush: Bush contributes to terrorism by being a person that it is easy for terrorists to generate anger, mistrust, and eventually hatred towards and by possibility alienating some of our allies.
Pro-Bush: Bush's hard-line policy and rhetoric approach to terrorism is keeping terrorists from being able to strike the U.S. and electing someone that might change the policies might make terrorists get the message that the target has become a little easier to hit. |

Another thing about the one-liners. I will first say that every time I hear Bush speak I get the impression that he is not a very smart man and that the things he is saying are meaningless and dumb.
HOWEVER, I also know that the things a president says only need to do one thing - speak to as many people as possible. I imagine that Bush thinks the one-liners are the most effective speaking tools. And, the fact is, they seem to work well for a lot of Americans, whether or not they are dumb, because it gives them what they expect out of the president. Personally I want an intelligent, insightful dialogue, but not everybody wants that all the time or from all people.
So, while I'd fire my speech writer and take a class in anything if I were Bush, his actions and behaviors may not be completely dumb after all. |
