Is it too late to start pre med at 21 yrs old? I have approx 4 semesters of college credits from when I was a psych major 2 years ago. Thanks in advance for any feedback you all may provide.

| It's never too late...just remember anything you want to do, you can. Just stay focused and positive, that's extremely important. Don't every let anyone tell you it's not possible or it's too late. |

| I have a question. I have a Master's in Social Work and also a license. I work for local agencies and have a private practice, and have been working with mentally ill adults, children, and families for 14 years. I am 38 years old and female. Lately I have been thinking about becoming a psychiatrist, since my children are getting a little bit older. My big question is, in short, am I simply too old to think about this???? As an undergrad, I studied English Literature. I took only a year of math, which I think was Algebra/Trig. Also, I did not take any college Chem, Bio, or any other science or math classes. I took two stats classes in grad school, which I passed with flying colors. Math and science are not terribly difficult for me, I just have not taken them. I graduated with honors and high honor, respectively, undergrad and grad school. I think about becoming a psychiatrist because I love the medical aspects of mental health, along with the even more subjective. It's always been so fascinating, the mind. Anyway, please tell me your opinion. |

No you're not to old!!! Check out OldPreMeds.org It's a really good source of info for non-traditional pre-med students.

| is it that right that only American can go to medical school in the state? i am international student, curently i am taking premed classes in another words my major is bio-chemestry...i was wondering if my major is going to help me to past MCAR? |

| Hi, I'm new here and recently decided that med school is the place for me, but I'm nervous about admissions. I'm an electrical engineering major, and because of my rigorous course schedule, a lot of my premed requirements won't get filled until my last semester. If I graduate in the spring, and want to go to med school in the fall of that same year, is that futile? |
