I am student, currently in Australia and have finished my undergrad degree on medical science ( 3 year degree). My age is 21 and have completed additional clinical work, and have been commended for it by medals. My gpa is 3.69 and was wondering whether i have a decent shot at any good US med school. I have not taken the MCAT, but regardless of this can you please tell about my chances. Would my chancs be improved if did a honours degree and recieved a green card in the US. Also, if i completed by medical education is Australia (MD) in reputed universities, would i still need to apply for a residency in the US or can i just enter directly into practise. Thank you.
Realistically, I think your chances are very poor. Your GPA is decent, to be sure, but no US schools need to search the world for outstanding candidates...they're more here than can be accomodated. Also, many students with similar GPAs never get accepted into a US medical school. I can appreciate your interest in the education you would receive in the US but you must understand that your situation does not put you in great demand. I think you should strive to be accepted in a medical program at home. Good luck!
